SS327-III-5AX - 32 mm, B-Axis Sliding Headstock Swiss Type Lathe
Cut complex parts complete in a single set-up. The hallmark of the Tsugami SS327-III-5AX CNC Lathe, in addition to Swiss style speed and accuracy, is its ability to cut contoured shapes using a servo-driven, modular B-axis. This feature greatly enhances the machine’s capability to produce high precision parts requiring sculpted geometries and bone screws at any helix angle.
Ultimate Swiss Turn for Complex-Shaped Parts
The Tsugami SS327-III-5AX Swiss Type Lathe is an enhanced, high performance automatic lathe. This machine’s servo-driven, modular B-axis allows for the cutting of complex parts, complete in a single setup, while applying the capability for through hole thread whirling or high speed spindles for small surfacing end mills. The B-axis contains live tools (four front, two rear) which can machine in coordination with the C-axis, delivering the ability to cut precise angles and sculpted contours. The B-axis functionality transforms this Swiss type lathe into a multitasking turning center that can drill, tap, and end mill any angle.
The modular tool zone makes it easy to change cartridge-type live cross and face tools on the B-axis and the sub side, decreasing changeover time. Multiple angle cuts by the same tool also decreases the total number of tools required. For machining complex shapes, this is the ultimate Swiss type lathe.
Enhancements to the Tsugami SS327-III-5AX include larger linear guides, increased ribs in the already solid base casting, a 4GB data server, Thermal Displacement Compensation sensors throughout, and 3 toggle clamping system, all standard on this robust platform.
The Tsugami SS327-III-5AX CNC Lathe is CONVERTIBLE and may be run as a traditional sliding headstock Swiss Type Lathe, using the guide bushing, or run without the guide bushing with the addition of an included chucker kit. When run as a chucker, the lathe can use drawn bar stock instead of centerless ground stock, dramatically reducing remnant length and increasing shop flexibility.
